The short version: Xpenzes collects only your name and email address to manage your account. We do not sell your data, share it with advertisers, or use it for any purpose other than making the app work for you. Your expense data is yours.

👤 Who we are

Xpenzes is an iOS and Android expense splitting application developed and operated by Hoshizora, an independent software developer. You can reach us at support@hoshizora.app.

📋 What we collect

We collect only what is necessary to provide you with an account and sync your data.

We do not collect:

  • Device identifiers or advertising IDs
  • Browsing or tracking data
  • Payment or bank account details
  • Contacts, photos, or any other device content

🔒 How we use your data

Your data is used solely to:

  • Create and manage your Xpenzes account
  • Enable shared expense tracking within groups you belong to
  • Show balances between you and your group members
  • Allow friends to find you by @username
  • Send in-app notifications for friend requests, group invites, and activity
  • Respond to support requests you send us
  • Send essential account communications (e.g. password reset)

We do not use your data for advertising, analytics sold to third parties, profiling, or any purpose beyond operating the app.

🤝 Sharing your data

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to any third party. We do not share your data with advertisers or data brokers.

We may share data only in the following limited circumstances:

  • Service providers: We may use third-party infrastructure providers (such as cloud hosting) strictly to operate the app. These providers process data only on our behalf and are contractually prohibited from using it for other purposes.
  • Legal requirements: If required by law or a valid legal process, we may disclose data as legally compelled.

🛡 Data security

We use industry-standard security practices to protect your data, including encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest. Your account is protected by password authentication.

No system is perfectly secure. If you believe your account has been compromised, please contact us immediately at support@hoshizora.app.

⚙️ Your rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate data
  • Delete your account and all associated data
  • Export your expense data

To exercise any of these rights, email us at support@hoshizora.app. We will respond within 30 days.

👶 Children's privacy

Xpenzes is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

📝 Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we will notify you via the email address associated with your account.

Your continued use of Xpenzes after a policy update constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
